There are Sales People Everywhere!

"Everyone is in Sales"  Just look around you!

Guess what?  Sales people are everywhere!  Have we invaded the world?  Is the Apocalypse here?  Is this the end of civilization as we know it?  No.  Relax.  I am just having a little fun, but the point is the same one I have been making for years.  We are all in Sales.  Lately, I have been  noticing some great sales performances by people we might not think of as sales people!  For example:

  • I recently took a flight on American Airlines and was delighted by the stellar performance of the flight attendants.  They were polite, patient and courteous in the face of a very challenging profession.  Everything they did made me want to fly AA again.  They closed me.
  • This very morning I had to take my car in for service.  Tom, the service manager is patient, a good listener and gets my concerns.  He closed me on buying my next car from this dealer.  In fact, he is a much better sales person than the sales people!
  • The A/C repairman I had at my house was an excellent sales person.  He was timely, respectful, took his time and explained the entire repair.  He differentiated himself from the myriad of other HVAC companies.  He earned my business!

The list goes on and on.  What do these people all have in common?  They all have what I call "Essential Selling Skills". Every sales person here knows the client comes FIRST.  They understand what "Sales Culture" is all about.
