The Language of Sales

It is time to change the language of sales just a bit. I often hear that sales professionals are trying to "sell" or "persuade" clients to buy a product or service. There has been much written about the impact of using the word to "sell" someone and it is true that it can be an intimidating word to people. People don't necessarily want or like to be sold. So, from this day forward try something new. Next time you are in front of a client or prospect, think about the words you are using. Are they meaningful to your client or prospect? Do they resonate and match the needs of the client? Are you conducting your sales campaign with energy and passion? Do you create a passion in them for the solution you are advocating? If so, then hopefully you are now inspiring your client to do business with you! Don't try so hard to "sell" them. Work to inspire them to do business with you. When you can do this, you have raised your game to a new level.

New Podcast "Sales is an Art"

In this podcast, I send a few minutes talking with the Sales Community about my deep belief that what we do is an art form. The greatest sales professionals are artists and watching any successful sales professional wave together a complex sale is like seeing a painting take shape and life. Enjoy! I am happy to announce that I am going to launch the first major update and enhancement to the website in the next few months! It is hard to believe that it has been almost nice months since we launched. Your comments have been very helpful and I am looking forward to sharing with you some of the changes we will be incorporating. My web guru, Jacob Smith at Whiteboard Media is hard at work with his team of creative geniuses to take the Sales Community to the next level. Stay tuned!

Have you taken the time to follow up with every client or prospect? If not, what are you waiting for? If you don't follow up with a client or prospect in a timely manner, then the message you are sending is that you don't want the business!

Why make it harder on yourself, when all you need to do is pick up the phone and check in with your client? Ask what they think about your proposal and get a reaction! Move your sales campaign ahead and ASK for the business! Check out the blog on this timely topic and tell us what you think!
